Meet the newly elected school board members, Volume 57, Issue 3.
After three new school board members, who ran together on a slate in a heated election, were elected alongside one returning member, I wrote an article introducing them to the community. Through a series of questions, I aimed to help readers better understand each member. I also tied the story to a previous article I’d written before the election, providing valuable context and continuity. I’m particularly proud of incorporating multimedia elements into the news section and look forward to exploring more creative design in future school board coverage.

School board candidates aim to prioritize students first, Volume 57, Issue 2.
Initially, I had doubts about the strength of this story I wrote covering two panels of the school board election, but I was ultimately pleased with how it turned out. The piece featured strong quotes and unbiased transitions while highlighting the significance of the election to my school. However, the accompanying art was a weak point, as it only showed the board panel signs. In the future, I hope to create more compelling visuals. This experience taught me the importance of follow-up questions during interviews, as they can open up valuable new angles.
Investigation into concerns raised by two North administrators, Volume 56, Issue 7.
As one of the few students at my school who regularly paid attention to board meetings, it was something I was used to. However, when I learned about the investigation involving two administrators, and its significant impact on the North community, I knew I had to inform my school and community. The story made a significant impact on North, and through the experience, I learned just how crucial it is to cover issues that directly affect our school community.

Dr. Andrea Tuttle appointed new superintendent, Volume 56, Issue 4
Amid the stress of a mid-year superintendent search, I was intrigued by the situation and attended the meeting where the two finalist candidates were presented. I took photos of both candidates and gathered their contact information. From there, I worked to present multiple viewpoints and addressed the district’s leadership needs.

Running her way to States: Deskins places herself on the record board, Volume 55, Issue 3
When I heard about Lillian Deskins, a record-breaking runner in my grade, I was instantly impressed and eager to learn more about her story. Knowing that she had only started running for a year, I wanted to capture her journey and highlight her accomplishments, both for her and the North community.
National inflation reaches Student Union: Increased prices follow economic trends, Volume 55, Issue 1
This story marked the beginning of my passion for news writing. As a shy sophomore, my mentor suggested I interview the economics teacher about inflation and its growing impact on our school store. Through this story, I discovered my love for the journalistic process and gained the skills I needed to move forward.
