For North Pointe, I had the opportunity to integrate multimedia elements into our paper, leveraging my background in broadcast journalism to conduct live video interviews. One of our vision statement goals was to expand multimedia across all publications, and I’m thrilled to have contributed to this initiative, inspiring others to embrace these new approaches as well.
Meet Marissa Ford,
An advocate for student voice in board decisions
For this story, we were introducing the new board members through a Q&A-style format, but we lacked a student perspective. When I learned about a student in my grade who created GP Students for Change in response to specific board decisions, I knew she’d be the perfect source. Her insights into how the new board members would impact North were invaluable. Unfortunately, on the day of filming, I was extremely sick, and my responses felt disengaged. This experience taught me the importance of staying energetic and engaged, even during challenging times, for future projects.

Meet Mr. Johnson,
Dean of Student Culture and Community
For the feature, we were introducing the new administrative team and the new Dean of Culture and Community. Since the dean isn't technically part of the administration, we wanted to keep the two separate from the briefs. I took the initiative to create an interview video. However, I faced a few challenges and ended up filming the video twice. But in the second video, I focused on things like smiling more and maintaining direct eye contact with the subject, Mr. Johnson.
